Description (From Wikipedia): An amabie appeared in Higo Province (Kumamoto Prefecture) according to legend, around the middle of the fourth month, in the year Kōka-3 (mid-May 1846) in the Edo period. A glowing object had been spotted in the sea, almost on a nightly basis. The town's official went to the coast to investigate and witnessed the amabie. According to the sketch made by this official, it had long hair, a mouth like bird's bill, was covered in scales from the neck down and three-legged. Addressing the official, it identified itself as an amabie and told him that it lived in the open sea. It went on to deliver a *prophecy: "Good harvest will continue for six years from the current year; if disease spreads, draw a picture of me and show the picture of me to those who fall ill and they will be cured." Afterward, it returned to the sea. The story was printed in the kawaraban (woodblock-printed bulletins), where its portrait was printed, and this is how the story *disseminated in Japan.

“sushi”をInternetで検索すると、今や“Sushi-shop”は、世界の名だたる観光地で大抵見つかります。「回転寿司」もここ数年の間にずいぶん世界中に広まっているようです。ひところは、”sushi-go-round restaurant”, “conveyor-belt sushi bar”…などの表記でしたが、最近は “sushi-bar”, “kaiten-zushi”の呼び名が “sashimi”, “bento”等と一緒に定着しつつあります。

私達には、メニュー写真をみれば「ネタ」 = sushi itemが何なのか、すぐに分かりますが、日本のsushiが初体験の外国人には良く分からないsushi items がきっとあるでしょうね。教えてあげられるように、いくつか発音してみます。さっと英語が出てくるかどうかお試しくださいね。

外国のsushi-barで、日本人がびっくりするような sushi-itemsをいくつかご紹介！カリフォルニアロール California rollは、アボガド：avocadoとカニ：crabが入った太巻きのこと。フィラデルフィアロール Philadelphia rollは、クリームチーズ= cream cheeseと鮭(さけ)= salmonが入っています。レインボーロール= rainbow rollは、色とりどりの魚などを表にした太巻きのこと。コブラロール= cobra rollは、エビのてんぷらが入っています。

これであなたも寿司屋さんで外国の方に寿司ネタを紹介できますよ。

2020年現在、リース一家は、タイの奥地で現地住民と共に、様々な試練を乗り越えながら布教を展開しています. 私の旧友リチャードからの、当時の近況メールを通じて、一家を紹介するコラムです. メールが大量ですので、「さわり：読みどころ」だけを、 “The World of Richard Rees” in my HP に保存してゆきます. 遠藤の判断で、個人情報が含まれる部分は、「Omission：中略」として、省略する場合があります.専門用語の和訳は、Heaven’s Gate Chapelの早津 栄元牧師 (Former Pastor Hayatsu Sakae, who retired in March, 2019.) のご指導を受けています.  Dear Richard and Wendy; Hoping you could enjoy having a taste of slipping through time back to your staying in Arai. Wendy and the children have been having a "summer break" from school. They successfully finished off the last school year about three weeks ago and the children have been enjoying the free time. Wendy has been too. Our home assignment plans to visit the UK, Ireland and the US next year will wreak havoc on the school schedule so we want to get an early start. The children are wanting to start up again so tomorrow Megan starts 3rd grade, Caleb starts 2nd and Rachel starts kindergarten. Wendy is feeling a bit *overwhelmed with teaching three children. Praise God with us that the children are good learners and pray for Wendy and the children as they start up the school year.

Gwen continues to keep in good health. There have been extra demands on her as a Grandmother with the kids out of school and we appreciate her help. Please be in prayer for her and us as we figure out next year travel plans. We plan to spend two or three months in the UK and Ireland and then five or six months in the US. It will be a pretty busy time with a lot of traveling and while it would be difficult for her to spend the whole time with us, it would be hard for her to travel or stay by herself part of the time. Wendy has a six month visitor’s visa for visiting the US. Gwen, on the other hand, can only stay for up to three months in the US. We could apply for the longer visa for Gwen, but it is a lot of work and no guarantee that she would get it. Please pray with us as we look at our options and put together our plans. Pray that God would open and close doors and make things clear. He has a perfect plan.

 

 

グウェンは健康を維持し続けています. 学校に通っていない子供達 (通信教育なので) を預けられた祖母として、過分な世話が掛かっているのです. 彼女の助けに感謝しています. 来年の旅行計画を立てるにあたり、彼女と私達のためにお祈りください. 英国とアイルランドで2、3か月、米国で5、6か月を過ごす予定です. たくさんの旅行でかなり忙しくなり、私達の動きと一緒に過ごすのは難しいと心配しています. ウェンディは、米国を訪問するための6ヶ月の訪問者ビザを持っています. 一方、グウェンは米国に最大3か月しか滞在できません. グウェンのより長いビザを申請することはできますが、それは大変な作業であり、彼女がそれを取得できるという保証はありません. 私達の計画をまとめられるよう、一緒に祈ってください. 神がドアを開閉し、物事を明確にするように祈りましょう. 主は、完璧な計画をお持ちです.

Description (From Wikipedia): An amabie appeared in Higo Province (Kumamoto Prefecture) according to legend, around the middle of the fourth month, in the year Kōka-3 (mid-May 1846) in the Edo period. A glowing object had been spotted in the sea, almost on a nightly basis. The town's official went to the coast to investigate and witnessed the amabie. According to the sketch made by this official, it had long hair, a mouth like bird's bill, was covered in scales from the neck down and three-legged. Addressing the official, it identified itself as an amabie and told him that it lived in the open sea. It went on to deliver a *prophecy: "Good harvest will continue for six years from the current year; if disease spreads, draw a picture of me and show the picture of me to those who fall ill and they will be cured." Afterward, it returned to the sea. The story was printed in the kawaraban (woodblock-printed bulletins), where its portrait was printed, and this is how the story *disseminated in Japan.

According to the weather forecast, during the year-end and New Year Day; "heavy snow warnings" will sound. Unlike in the past days, the report is more accurate; so I removed snow mainly in the west side parking lot. I always think it’s an exercise, steadily, patiently...

♥12月29日(火)のMB補習で、今年のレッスンが終わります.

紙粘土で、アマビエを作った時、MBのK君が、「今度は、鯨を作って！」と言っていたことを思い出しました.

 

♥最近は、アナログ世界の方が好きになっています. 12月27日(日)の夕食後、小1時間で鯨の形が出来ました. 教室で乾かしています. あとは、兎の小春を作って、着色すれば完成！

 

“MB-class (a supplementary one) on Dec 29 (Tue) is the final lesson of this year. When I made the paper-clay Amabie, K in MB said to me, "Next time, make a whale!"－ I remembered.

I recently prefer analog-world to digital one. After having supper on Dec 27 (Sun), I made the shape of it in an hour. Now it is being naturally dried. What I have to do is only making our pet, rabbit: Koharu and color them, that’s over.

I’ve got lots of “special and interesting expressions some students and I used once”, which I’ve made a note of in my daily LL-lessons for more than forty-five years. Let’s try to find queer or wrong expressions we Japanese easily mistake, shall we?

単数複数に敏感な英語世界では、 “my friends”なら、問題がないのですが、 “my friend”だと、「えっ、友達は、一人しかいないの？」と思われやすいのです.

Description (From Wikipedia): An amabie appeared in Higo Province (Kumamoto Prefecture) according to legend, around the middle of the fourth month, in the year Kōka-3 (mid-May 1846) in the Edo period. A glowing object had been spotted in the sea, almost on a nightly basis. The town's official went to the coast to investigate and witnessed the amabie. According to the sketch made by this official, it had long hair, a mouth like bird's bill, was covered in scales from the neck down and three-legged. Addressing the official, it identified itself as an amabie and told him that it lived in the open sea. It went on to deliver a *prophecy: "Good harvest will continue for six years from the current year; if disease spreads, draw a picture of me and show the picture of me to those who fall ill and they will be cured." Afterward, it returned to the sea. The story was printed in the kawaraban (woodblock-printed bulletins), where its portrait was printed, and this is how the story *disseminated in Japan.
