This poor translation into English is for both brushing up Yoshy’s proficiency and telling updates to my foreign friends. Yoshy’s several foreign friends are always checking this blog; wrong expressions found, an article of “Correction” has been uploaded here.

In this blog, Yoshy adds * (asterisk) at the vocabulary and expressions whose level are Eiken 2nd and over, and writes its explanation.

Removing Erie’s Hair-balls

Last Sunday’s evening on July 26th, blue *silhouette of Mt. Myoko was clearly seen in a beautiful sunset. It looked like a *gallant figure just after preventing from Typhoon No.12 as a great wall. Though we had to have a *sultry night as a *side effect, we should thank the range of Mt. Myoko because we’ve never had such natural *calamities as Okinawa, Kyushu, etc. suffered as of now.

*silhouette [sìluét]:影絵、輪郭  *gallant [gˈælənt](a) 雄々しい  *sultry [sˈʌltri](a) 暑苦しい  *side effect:副作用  *calamity [kəlˈæməṭi]:災害、惨禍

02 500 20150726 Casablanca buds

These big buds are of “Casablanca” which was shot in LL-garden at *dusk that day.

*dusk [dˈʌsk]:日暮れ

03 500 20150727 Casablanca open

Next Monday morning on 27th, they came out gorgeously. Thank R who has been taking are of this LL-garden day by day.

04 400 Movie of Casablanca

As you know, “Casablanca” which is a famous name of the movie as well as the biggest city in Kingdom of *Morocco. I heard it means “a white house” in Spanish. I love the movie very much.

*Morocco [mərάkoʊ]:

Brothers Erie

Well, these big trees are Gingko named by me “Ginkichi Brothers” which I was worried if they would be cut down or not. I took a picture of this last Saturday’s evening while walking with Erie. I saw the tag of “*pruning” around them. I was happy! They are not cut down for the time being.

“Ginkichi and Girako” are the characters in the drama of “Six Jizos” performed at M-PEC Festival in 2008. You’re available to see some pictures by clickingHERE:ここをクリックなさってください。

06 500 20150725 Erie after cleaning 02 stare at 爪切

I washed Erie that night. Her hair is now changing into summer one, so recently I do once a week. I found so many small hair balls on her both sides of *haunches! There were so many that I wasn’t able to remove them by brushing only. It took not less than half an hour to finish *snipping off them with a pair of scissors. As Erie seemed to reach the *extent of her patience, she unusually refused to get her nails cut!

*Glaring at her nail kipper, she became *rigid on her relaxing pillow.

A large parts of her haunches had become bald before I could notice. Well, that’s not noticeable. Maybe R would get angry if she knew that. … I believe “growing hair-balls are apt to be a breeding spot for *germs”; to keep her *hygienic has priority over to stay good-looking.

*germ [dʒˈɚːmdʒˈəːm ]:病原菌、細菌、芽生え  *hygienic [hɑɪdʒíːnɪk](a) 衛生によい、衛生学の

“I won’t clip your nails. That’s it for today”, I said to her. Then she began to walk to a sofa, where she fell asleep.

Her white hair around her neck looks like a “WHITE” HOUSE, which is the meaning of Spanish language of “Casablanca”. I love her white neck. That’s what only parent could say. Blowing one’s own trumpet!

I graduated Arai Senior High School.”  --- ???

答え:I graduated from Arai Senior High School.

“graduate fromで、「~を卒業する」:この場合の graduateは、自動詞です。

“from” なしで使うと、他動詞:「~を卒業させる」となります。「新井高校を、卒業さす」ことは、理にかないません。「東京経済大は、今年、600人の卒業生を送り出した。」: “Tokyo Economic College graduated 600 seniors this year.”
