この拙い英訳ブログ作業はヨッシーの英語力精進と外国友人への近況報告のためです。常時、友人ネイティブ数名が検査して下さっておられ、誤表記の場合は即「訂正」記事を書いています。

This poor translation into English is for both brushing up Yoshy’s proficiency and telling updates to my foreign friends. Yoshy’s several foreign friends are always checking this blog; wrong expressions found, an article of “Correction” has been uploaded here.

英文中、英検2級レベル以上の語彙や表現には、* (星印)で注釈をつけています。

In this blog, Yoshy adds * (asterisk) at the vocabulary and expressions whose level are Eiken 2^nd and over, and writes its explanation.

The 38^th LL Speech Contest Interclass is Over! & LL Shihoya News September - October

★🌙★★★★🌗★★★🌑★★★★☀♪

 

今年度は、Ⅰ部、Ⅱ部とも、9月6日(日)、教室で実施いたしました。看板は教室西側出入り口に設置いたしました。

Both Part-1 and 2 are going to be held at LL Shihoya Arai School on Sunday, September 6th. The signboard was placed at the west entrance of LL Shihoya Arai School.

 

 

前夜、「課題文集冊子」、「出場生徒名簿＋採点票」などを作って、当日午前中に準備を終えました。

I made “Booklets of Recitations”, “Names of Speakers + Score-sheets”, etc. finishing preparations in that morning.

 

 

親御様たちには、次のようなお話をさせていただきました。

My greeting message to their parents was as follows.

■美しい有名な詩や随筆の暗唱は、将来の「使える英語でコミュニケーション」できる「大木の、目に見えない根っこ」となります。

Recitation of beautiful and famous poems or essays would sure be “an invisible but steady root of your big tree”, which means “the basis of proficiency for vivid communication” in your near future.

 

■「私たちが歩けるのは、歩いているから。」…無重力の中での宇宙飛行士は「歩く練習」を欠かさないそうです。「毎日のCD学習、ワークブックの復習、英単マスター…」

“The reason we can walk is walking every day.”－Every astronaut in zero G, I heard, makes a point of practicing walking without fail

“Daily work of CD-practicing, review of workbooks, learning English vocabulary skills, etc.” is as same as above.

 

 

■エジソンは、「天才とは1%のひらめきと99%の汗：努力だ.」と…。深い味のある名言です。

They say Edison defined genius as ‘1 % inspiration and 99 % perspiration.’ What a wise and profound saying!

 

 

Ⅰ部は、22名中4名：「発表意欲がある生徒」が参加！…採点も講評も、気持ちよくできました。

The 4 out of 22 *possible *participants gave speeches in Part-1! … As they were all “motivated to win a prize or just to enjoy speaking”, I felt more comfortable while listening to and giving my comments to each than before.

発表直後の4名に大きな拍手が沸き上がりました。(入賞生徒名は、下へスクロールなさってください。)

Just after the four speeches, there was a big *round of *applause to them. (Scroll down to read the winners, please.)

Ⅱ部は、14名中ベスト5名が発表。(同上)

The 5 out of 14 *possible *participants gave speeches in Part-2. (Same as the above.)

 

 

Ⅱ部の1位、2位は僅差でした。概して、彩音さんの詩の朗誦は難しいのですが、落ち着きがあって、安心して聞くことができました。感情の起伏をより豊かに表現できたら、晴海君が2位になっていました。二人とも見事！

The two winners were decided *by a narrow margin at Part-2. Though generally, recitations of poem is rather difficult, I was able to enjoy listening to Ayane’s self-possessed speech. If she could express her emotional ups and downs more, Harumi became the 2^nd; but both were excellent!

聴取生徒もメモできるように、このような「採点票」を配布しました。

“Score-sheets” had been handed in to all participants so that they could write notes during listening to.

9月12日(土)、7:00-9:00 pm at LLシホヤ新井教室：The 101st M-PEC月例講座を準備してお待ち申し上げます。中高生以上、資料代は500円 (小学生は無料)：出欠のご返事は、9月10日(木)までにお電話：[phone] or メール (個人情報保護機能付き：Personal data in this e-mailing is protected.)にてお願いいたします。

The 101st YEA (Yoshy's English Activity) of M-PEC is going to be held at LL Shihoya Arai School on Saturday, September 12^th; from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. YEA is available to all ages from J/S high school students. Material fee is 500 yen. (Elementary school kids’ fee is free.) Please reply to confirm your participation by September 10^th (Thu) by email or phone (above) to Yoshy.

形容詞の並べ方って、慣れないとわかりにくいですね。

大小長短などの「形状」が先で、「色」は後と覚えましょう。

「緑の高い自由の女神」は、 “tall green Statue of Liberty” / 「茶色の大きな犬」は、 “a big brown dog” …
